The purpose of a trigger

The main purpose of a trigger is to shine light to a past pain that is still there and is being activated by the current situation.

The actual focus is not so much the present situation, but rather that wounded part of ourselves from the past, which is trying to communicate with us through the present situation.

When you are triggered, ask yourself:

  • What in this situation is familiar to me in the way that I am feeling right now?

  • Which part of me wants to be heard and seen and what has it got to say?

  • How can I explore this part with more curiosity and understanding?

When we explore our triggers with more curiosity to see what is trying to be communicated through the triggered parts of us, we can then evolve and shift our reality.
